Strutt Your Mutt Event - Pier 84 - NYC - Sept. 25, 2011

We participated in the Strutt Your Mutt fundraising walk in NYC on Sept. 25. Kira and Cooper really enjoyed themselves and were fantastic doggy ambassadors. We had lots of questions about them and we handed out cards. A professional photographer even took photos of them. They stayed calm and controlled and strolled through the crowds with no problems. It ended up being hotter out than expected but the event provided unlimited free water, lots of snacks for the dogs and lots of good information. Caroline Manzo was there from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Did not get a photo of her crawling around letting dogs lick her. A missed opportunity. Here are some pictures we took on the way to the event and at the event..... ENJOY!

The Running of the SHILOHS Part One

We arrived in Spain this morning not knowing what to expect. We were told to just stand here but this guy next to us does not look very friendly. Those guys ahead of us look like they know something we don't know. This doesn't look like it is going to be much fun.

I knew this was going to be a bad idea!! RUN KIRA! JUMP OUT OF THE WAY; HE ALMOST GOT YOU!!! Who's idea was this????? This is supposed to be fun? Why can't we just be sitting at a little cafe enjoying a little wine and chorizos?

The Running of the SHILOHS Part Two

We had such a good time in Spain we thought we would try something a little closer to home.

Here we are, outside Filene's Basement, waiting for the start of the annual Running of the Brides. After stampeding bulls, this should be a piece of cake.

We don't know what it is all about or what to expect.

Who is Filene and where are the brides running to? I don't get it.

I guess it is time to run now. Where are we supposed to go? What are we supposed to do. Why are we here?

Famous Movies - featuring ISSR Shiloh Shepherds

Everyone knows that in the world of Hollywood many of the best scenes are cut from the movies. Well, here are a few movies you might recognize that originally featured the famous ISSR Shiloh Shepherd duo of Kira and Cooper. Their scenes were cut but that is in no way a reflection on their wonderfully instinctive acting ability.

You may remember this scene from 'Dirty Dancing'. Cooper's scene was cut because the director felt his over the top cuteness would distract viewers from what the scene was supposed to convey.

'Grease' - a cult favorite. This is the famous last scene of the movie. Kira and Cooper were supposed to be a big part of the spectacular ending but they were cut out at the last minute. The producer felt they were not necessary to the story line.

' The Shining' - one of Stephen King's scariest books. Here is Kira in the supporting role. She was cut out of this scene because her acting was so good it made the rest of the cast look like amateurs. She was, however, kept on as a consultant.

'When Harry Met Sally' - a lot of people liked this movie, especially this scene which takes place in NYC's famous Katz's Deli (the best pastrami, corned beef and hot dogs in the world). Once the scene was shot with Kira and Cooper it was decided they were just too young to be included in a scene with such strong sexual inuendo.

'Woodstock' - this was Kira and Cooper's favorite movie to work on. They just loved being part of the crowds and the music and the hippie atmosphere. Kira really tuned in to her inner flower child.

They ended up being let go because they were accused of upstaging the other actors. They did not care. Because of the excellent contract negotiating skills of their manager, they got paid anyway; plus, if you listen carefully, they figure very prominently in the soundtrack of the movie and in a lot of the crowd scenes.

'The Wizard of Oz' - their scariest movie to date. They really did not like the tornado scenes. They ended up walking out in protest when they found out that the Cowardly Lion was actually a man in a costume. Cooper also had trouble learning his lines because he was so freaked out by the Munchkins and Flying Monkeys.

'Titanic' - Both Kira and Cooper were really looking forward to being in this movie. They felt that their careers were finally on the right track and that this was going to be a major blockbuster. They were, unfortunately, let go because their Screen Actors Guild dues were not paid up-to-date. This was a result of poor representation. Their accountant disappeared with all their earnings and they were left with nothing but a mild case of seasickness. This has not discouraged them from continuing to pursue the acting bug. They are constantly auditioning and they will hopefully soon be seen on the big screen in a theatre near you.

We met up with Kira and her mom Mari at West Hills Dog Park in Huntington - May 28, 2011. The weather was perfect.

Message to Tina:

The beauty of these animals is a testament to Tina's vision, love and dedication to the development of this superior breed for which we will be eternally grateful. As she prepares for her new journey (hopefully not for a long, long time) we wish her Peace and Love and the Hope that Heaven is exactly as we all envision with Shiloh Shepherds, big and small, plush and smooth, tails wagging, tongues hanging, waiting to guide her home.

Tina, you have our undying gratitude for the beauty and love you have brought into our home and mere words can never express how thankful we are that we found you just when we needed you most. We promise you that we will cherish our Shiloh boy for as long as God allows us to have him and we commit to you that we will always have at least one ISSR Shiloh Shepherd in our family.

We know that Lisa is dedicated to keeping your dream alive and we vow to carry on your message and help to spread word of your precious work.

You and your family are in our prayers and no one believes more than we do in the miracle of prayer which got us through a very difficult time in recent months. An illness that was predicted to result in death or at best, a life spent on a respirator in a nursing home actually ended in an almost full recovery, that doctors did not think was possible. It can only be attributed to 10% medicine and 90% love and prayers of the wonderful people we have in our lives.

Tina, you have surrounded yourself with the most wonderful people in the world - Shiloh people - animal loving people - devoted people - people that know you and love you. All of these people are praying for you and miracles do happen.

Just look at the miracle you have given us. We have never known such joy and contentment that we have now that Cooper has joined our family. It is as if you provided us with the last piece of the puzzle.

Here we are leaving Las Vegas with all our winnings. We wanted to stay longer but we were asked to leave. I guess they don't get too many lucky Shilohs around here. They asked us to vacate the premises before we bankrupted them and shut the city down. We did get some nice juicy steaks before they managed to escort us out of the hotel. We got the last laugh. Piles and piles of cash for Christmas shopping.

Here we are at the Boston Commons. This little kid thinks the ducks are real.... geesh!!! She was feeding them Cheerios but Kira and I scooped them up as fast as she could throw them. She went crying to her mother. She tried to shoo us away but I got all Cesar Millan on her butt and claimed the park for me and Kira. They left pretty fast after that.

Here we are at Boston Harbor. Not a teabag to be found anywhere!!!! All in all Boston was okay but I am really looking forward to our trip to VEGAS, BABY!!!!! Stay tuned...........

MICHIGAN

Here we are at the Henry Ford Museum. I really thought we would be able to drive the cars but they are really uptight about even letting us get close. We had to sneak in through the back entrance.

We visited the Henderson Castle in Kalamazoo. They would not let us in but we both left nice big calling cards on the front lawn (if you catch my drift).

We ended our Michigan trip with a visit to a Water Street Coffee Joint where we were waiting to meet up with Jan and family. Kira only wanted water but I enjoyed a nice big cafe latte. No one even looked up from their laptops. Check out the lady hiding her book behind the laptop. What's up with that?

ALABAMA

Here we are in beautiful Alabama. Home of Reilly the Shiloh Shepherd and his sister Zoe. You can read all about them here The Life of Reilly. Reilly gave us a list of places to visit. We are going to try to get to them all.

We started in Birmingham at the Civil Rights Institute. Everyone has civil rights; even ISSR Shiloh Shepherds.

While we were sightseeing we came across this really neat covered bridge in Blount County.

Okay, we thought he was joking but Reilly said, "if you get to Dothan, you just gotta see the Golden Peanut". Well, it was true! A freakin giant golden peanut right there in the middle of town. It's like a dream. Who would have thought there would be all these wonderful sights to see?

In Montgomery we stopped at the Hank Williams Museum. Kira shocked me by belting out a Hank Williams tune. She got quite a crowd to gather and everyone sang along. We rocked out to Jambalaya, one of his most popular songs. Here are words. Why don't you sing along with Kira:

OKLAHOMA -
As suggested, we hit Oklahoma. There is so much to see. We have been making so many stops, we are exhausted but we are having so much fun. We are so glad we waited until most of the really hot weather was over before embarking on our adventure. We hope you have been enjoying our picture journals so far. We are enjoying ourselves so much we really cannot say when we will be returning home. We are traveling to spread the word about Real Deal Shiloh Shepherds.

Here we are starting out our time in Oklahoma by hitchhiking down the famous Route 66. We have been here for hours but no one wants to stop to pick us up. All these cars look too small. We may have to start walking soon.

"I think we may be in a little trouble here. We finally got a ride but they brought us straight to the Oklahoma City Zoo and just dropped us off. These big animals are scary. I hope they don't think we are their dinner. C'mon Kira, try to keep up. We gotta find our way outta here!"

After our scare at the zoo it was time for a little fun so we hit the Frontier City amusement park. We hooked up with a family of maniacs. They rode the coaster 12 times! After the third time we begged for mercy and hightailed it out of there. I almost lost my lunch.

We hitched a ride to Broken Arrow where we hit some really freaky weather! Check out the lightning. My feet are killing me.

ARIZONA
We made a really quick stop in Arizona.

Here we are at Fort Apache. "No, this is not our hotel room! Please give me a little more credit. If you do not trust me, next time you make the arrangements."

My Friend Destiny

Here is my friend Destiny waiting patiently for me to get home from The Chelsea Clinton wedding in Rhinebeck, NY. I promised to bring her home a piece of wedding cake. Sorry, Destiny, but I ate it on the train from Rhinebeck to Grand Central Station. It was a long trip and I got very, very hungry. I promise I will make it up to you. Do you like rawhides? I was going to bring you back a really nice rhinestone Fendi pocketbook but the security guard made me put it back on the table. Supposedly it belonged to someone who was dancing. Honestly, who leaves a pocketbook just lying around?

It has been a busy year for me. So many functions to attend. I cannot even tell you how many invitations I have to decline.

Okay, so I started with my photo with George W. and Jenna at her wedding. I was not going to publish this picture because I think it makes me look chunky but since I will be showing the pictures of Chelsea's wedding I have give equal time to both parties.

Okay, so Bill may have overdone the dieting but he was determined to look good for the wedding. He looks like he could use a few Big Macs. He does not look very happy but that is just because he is taking his job very seriously. He was overjoyed at how beautiful Chelsea looked.

This picture is my favorite. They look so in love that they did not even notice me. I was asked to step aside but got my face in there just as the camera flash went off.

No way was I going to be left out of the family portrait! I just finished chowing down on some lobster. You can see I am still wearing my lobster bib.

My Busy Father's Day Weekend

Boating is not my favorite thing to do but when the Clintons invite you to spend time at their summer house, you just do not refuse. I am glad I went. Sunday was a scorcher and we had a really nice breeze coming in off the bay. I could have used a few margaritas or mojitos but it was, unfortunately, an alcohol free weekend.

I spent part of the weekend playing with Bo and just walking with the Obama family. They showed me the whole White House and no part of the lawn was off limits. They are a really nice family but Bo needs a little more discipline.

Bill and Hillary are two of the nicest people I have ever met. Here I am at their recent garden party at their home in Chappequa. We barbequed and swam in the pool.

He looks mean but Donald Trump was pretty nice to me. He fired me but he did it in a very nice way!

John Travolta is my favorite celebrity of all time! He gave me a ride on his bike. The wind in my hair felt wonderful. We don't get together often but when we do we always have a great time! Next year we are planning to meet in Sturgis. Hope to see you all there.

We finally got a picture of brother and sister sitting together (or at least in the same vicinity at the same time). Maybe next time we can get them closer together. We had a great time on Saturday walking in Central Park with the other Shilohs. Lots and lots of people asked about us and said how beautiful we are.

My sister Kira was there!

Konig is so cool! He was the official Shiloh Ambassador. Everyone wanted to meet him and pet him! My Mom took this beautiful picture of him.

Teddy and Lexi stole the show. They are so good at posing. Mom says we have to work on my discipline so I learn to listen too! (I do not know what that means!)

Check out our Slide Show! We walked through the park.... we climbed on some rocks..... our parents answered lots of questions...... We are going to do this again real soon and we hope lots and lots more Shilohs show up with their families!

I want to wish a Happy New Year to my friends at the Juniper Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Kelly and Dr. Giusto are the BEST! All the girls there are fantastic and super friendly. I am a big baby when it comes to ear cleaning and nail cutting but they handle me just right.

Here I am in the car on the Long Island Expressway. I wonder where they are taking me now and why is it taking so long?

On Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 we went to Gardiner's County Park on Long Island to meet some of the other NY Shiloh's.

On the left is my sister Kira who lives with her Mom, Mari. We haven't seen each other in a long time but we got along great! It was a fun day and I got to meet a lot of big, big Shiloh's!

Here is the rest of the gang. Left to right: Kira (my sister), Cooper (that's me), Hunter (wow, he's huge!), Arrow (I really liked Arrow), Samson (he was huge too! and really cool and mellow), Tucker (he is nine months old), next is Lexi and Teddy (they live together)

Meet my friend Sage

This is my friend Sage from the Dog Run. We also have the same teacher but I am in the puppy class and he is in the big dog class.

Sage has these really cool blue eyes! They are the color of the sky.

Ears up one day...down the next. My colors are changing and my fur is getting really thick. Almost 5 months old -I have almost no puppy fluff left!

Four Months Old

9/26/08 both ears are up and my height is now 21.5 inches

I was four months old yesterday, Sept. 19, 2008. I got my rabies shot today and I am finished with all my puppy shots. Today I weighed 44 pounds!!! My height is 21.5 inches.

We just want to say what a wonderful breed Tina Barber has created. Her years of dedication to perfecting the Shiloh Shepherd has paid off for all of us lucky enough to have one of her dogs. We will always be grateful to Tina and Lisa Barber for picking the perfect puppy for us. After having our puppy for only a few weeks we were already thinking about how long we have to wait to add another one to our family. If we had the room we would have three or four of them like some lucky people do.

I have always loved my pets but never thought of myself as a dog 'fanatic'. Well, after having Cooper with us for just a short time now, I can honestly say that I am now a certified (or certifiable) Shiloh Shepherd fanatic.

Patriot Puppy

2nd Vet visit Aug 9 - I weighed 24 pounds. I had my ears cleaned and my nails cut, shots, nosedrops and I hardly cried at all.

I got my first bandana today on Ebay!!

It brings out the color of my eyes.

Don't I look like a little gentleman? Well, Mom and Dad may not agree. I am becoming quite a little devil with huge spurts of energy and feistiness. I am quite comfortable in my new house and I am perfectly capable of taking over. I overheard something about 'puppy kindergarten' and 'obedience training'. Whatever could they mean? Everyone knows that Shilohs are always on their best behavior.

Check out all these toys!!!! I love throwing my toys around.

COOPER - DOB 5/19/08
(Leah/Acer -ISSR New Zion Shiloh Shepherds)

We are very pleased to introduce you to our ISSR Shiloh Shepherd born on May 19, 2008. We just picked him up on Saturday July 19, 2008. His parents are Leah and Acer of the ISSR New Zion Shiloh Shepherds. This is the kennel that belongs to Tina & Lisa Barber. Tina Barber is the breed founder of these amazing dogs.

His name is Cooper.
Since the day we brought him home we have just been amazed at how smart and sweet he is. He settled right in. We cannot thank Tina enough for picking out the perfect puppy for us. When we first saw the 5 wk pictures of the litter Cooper was the white collar male and he was the one that we had our eyes on right from the beginning.

In the 7 wk pictures he was renamed Silver Collar male and he looked absolutely amazing. We knew that there was a certain order to assigning the puppies and I tried not to get my heart set on him in case he was not available for us. Imagine how happy we were when Tina pulled out the folder for the Silver Collar male and told us that he was her choice for us!!!!! We could not believe it! Thank you Tina for making us so happy and for knowing which pup would be perfect for us.

It has been 15 years since we had a puppy in the house. Our two dogs, Becky and Blue, both passed away earlier this year. They both shared a wonderful 15 years with us and we are so grateful to have had them in our lives. We think that they helped pick Cooper for us.

This is Blue. She was a Blue Chow Chow and she shared many wonderful years with us. We want both Becky and Blue to know how much they are missed and how much we treasure the years we spent with them.

It was quite by accident that we discovered that Shiloh Shepherds existed. About 15 years or so ago we attended the Nassau Coliseum Pet Expo. While walking around the show we spotted the biggest most magnificent shepherd lying calmly and regally at a booth. That was our first introduction to the Shiloh Shepherd. We never forgot the impression this beautiful animal left on us. When debating whether or not to get a new puppy after losing Becky and Blue we immediatly thought -why not see if we can get a Shiloh! It was really the only choice for us. Even after 15 years we remembered.

When researching how to best go about getting our own Shiloh we found Tina Barber and New Zion Shilohs. We almost made a huge mistake when we first contacted one of those 'other' breeders (now known to us as one of the slivers) but something just did not feel right. After making arrangements to go see one of their dogs, we decided to do a little more research and that is when we found Tina, AKA MaShiloh. In a little twist of irony it turns out that it was Tina that we met at the Pet Expo 15 years ago and it was the magnificent Lazarus that we were introduced to that day that left such an impression on us! It has been a match made in heaven. It took us 15 years to get here but it was well worth the wait. We are coming to the end of Cooper's first week home and I am so much in love with him it is unreal.

June 26, 2008 -Today was Cooper's first visit to the vet just to get acquainted and they made such a fuss over him. Tina will be happy to know that they had heard of the Shiloh Shepherd but no one in the office had ever seen one. They were quite excited and very impressed. Tina, you may have some new customers soon!!!

July 26, 2008 !!!Cooper weighs in at 16 pounds!!!

Aug 09, 2008 !!! Up to 24 pounds!!!

Sep 06, 2008 !!! Weight 35.2 pounds!!!
